From tiny single cup to large family size the teapots came in different sizes, shapes, colors and decoration.
Our teapots are Medalta and Albert Potteries and we love them all. The most fun is trying to find everything in one color...teapot, cream pitcher and sugar bowl, as well as the different size of pots.
Sometimes they come to us from far away, one of our teapots was found in the United Kingdom. It makes me wonder about how it got to be so far from home and the story of its travels across the ocean. Was it perhaps a gift from someone to take home with them, was it mailed to someone or did someone come to Medicine Hat and see the teapot and fall in love with and just had to take it home. I am sure it holds some stories.
It is exciting to open a parcel with a teapot that was purchased because it was a "good deal" only to realize that it is a larger size than the one on the shelf. Such was the case with one of the cottage teapots, we liked the teapot and it was a "good deal" so we purchased it and thought maybe to use it as a trade but after opening it and seeing the size it went on the shelf with the others.
Like always the fun is in the search and the people we meet along the way.
So if you come to our house for tea.......please expect to get your tea bag beside your cup because although we have lots of teapots we have none to use for tea.
And the search continues.....
We have the same cream and sugar set from Medalta but it's yellow. And the sugar has a lid. Do you know the value of this set? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHello....the cream and sugar in the blog are Medicine Hat Potteries with the Little Chief or Sleepy Indian stamp and not Medalta. I am not sure what the value would be all I can tell you is what we would pay for them. For a set including the lid in just a plain color we would likely pay no more than $30 for them and with decorations on them it may be a bit more. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteWhat is the worth of the brown tea pot with a dark brown scene please?
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen. The value is very dependent on the condition and the decoration. There is a sailboat and a cottage scene and some are stencilled and others are hand painted. They also made teapots with advertising on them. There are different sizes of each teapot as well. So depending on condition and decoration and size without advertising I would pay $100-200 for it, all I can tell you is what I would pay and depending if someone has it in those collection or not they may pay more or less. Hope that helps.
